Lauren (formerly Lauren Farrell) is a visual artist and singer/songwriter from New England who pursued Songwriting at Berklee College of Music in Boston, as well as Fine Art at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts through Tufts University.
A unique path formed after graduation as she became involved in outdoor sports photography and became a professional whitewater kayak photographer, allowing her to travel and kayak across the country.
This resulted in playing music both nationally and internationally, while working as a freelance Lighting Designer and Art Director for theater, and recently breaking into the world of film in various art department roles.
Music and art are always intertwined and Marina's ties to the musical world have only become stronger with new experiences and challenges.
Her music has been compared to artists such as Alana Davis, Norah Jones, Mazzie Star, and Colbie Caillat, while her influences include artists such as Van Morrison, Mason Jennings, Lucinda Williams and Johnny Cash, among many others.
"My traveling lifestyle has always been a part of who I am and I know a lot of people can either relate to that or romanticize it, so that also happens with my songs" says Marina.
She has performed in various events across the US and Mexico, recorded an EP at Dirt Floor Studios in CT in 2012, and has had the opportunity to promote her songs through radio and television.
While continuing to play and write music, Marina is currently living in Los Angeles and working as a freelance visual artist for films.
